monday, october 5th

main lesson:

form drawing, "the three beings" (that's my name for them anyway)

Form Drawing for Grades 1-4, Ernst Schuberth & Laura Embry-Stine, p.

introduce with a short story. (ours was about 3 brothers, of course...:)

form drawing story:
"early one autumn morning, mama sat at the kitchen table knitting a little woolen kitten for the baby to play with. it was a beautiful kitten, made with love out of the softest, grey yarn that mama had. only the quiet, click, clack...click, clack of her needles could be heard in the house, as everyone else was fast asleep. father sun had only just risen to greet mother earth.

well, the eldest brother soon began to stir under his warm quilt. the day was calling to him, telling him to of the adventures and possibilities to come. his eyes popped open and he climbed down out of his bunk bed and he stretched a b*i*g stretch. his feet were flat against the earth and his arms stretched straight up to the sky.

he walked out to the kitchen where his mother greeted him with a hug and a kiss, and a greeting of "good morning, love".

he sat down across from her, where his mother placed a steaming bowl of oatmeal. the perfect breakfast for such a brisk morning.

no sooner had he taken a bite, then they heard the sound of the middle brother stirring in under his covers as well. it seems that the day had come to greet him as well with the promise of adventures to come. his eyes, too, popped wide open and he climbed out of his bunk. he stretched a b*i*g stretch. his feet were flat against the earth, and his arms stretched out wide to embrace the day.

he walked out to the kitchen where his mother greeted him with a hug and a kiss, and a greeting of "good morning, love."

he sat down next to his brother, where his mother placed a steaming bowl of oatmeal. the perfect breakfast for such a brisk morning.

no sooner had he taken a bite than they heard the sound of the youngest brother stirring under his covers as well. it seems the day had come to greet him as well with the promise of adventures to come. his eyes popped wide open and he climbed out of the big bed that he shared with him mama and baby sister. he stretched a b*i*g stretch with his arms stretched out wide to embrace father sun and his legs stretched out wide to greet mother earth.

he walked out to the kitchen where his mother greeted him with a hug and a kiss, and a greeting of "good morning, love."

he sat down beside his older brothers, where his mother placed a steaming hot bowl of oatmeal, the perfect breakfast for such a brisk morning."
